I am SOOOOO exctied, last night, while I was out having a wonderful girls night out with one of my dearest friends Tezra Chris was at home with the kiddos being the most awesome husband that he is, playing with the kids, making dinner and just generally being the awesome husband and dad that he is on a daily basis. But last night was a little different, because he was also working on a super cool gift for me (and one for our Capture Life Workshopattendees)!!! I have been drooling over Kelly Moore's new Camera bags, for a while. The site was officially launched recently and the store opened up, and I REALLY wanted a bag, but didn't even think twice about ordering since it's Christmas time, and we still had quite a bit of shopping to do for the kids. Well last night Chris decided to not only order the SUPER CUTE pink bag as a gift for me, (THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU babe!!!) but he also spoke with Kelly who is going to donate a bag for our Capture Life Workshop!!!! That's right ladies, one of you lucky attendees is going to come home with one of these gorgeous bags!!!!! So what are you waiting for, go check out Kelly's site and order a bag of your own!!!
And after you've visted her site, make sure you head over to the Capture Life Workshop blog for some fun photo challenges and if you haven't already, register for your ticket to the Capture Life Workshop on January 23rd, 2010. We only have 3 tickets left!! :)

Chris and I have been working and planning for an exciting workshop!! It's a workshop for YOU! This is not for professional photographers, but for moms & dads and those that love to capture life as it happens. Those that want to know how to control their cameras so that their photos look like what they had envisioned in their head, when they clicked the shutter! Over the last several months we have had more and more people calling, emailing, facebooking, and twittering us with questions about their new cameras. These questions have come from Moms & Dads who bought a Digital SLR, in the hopes of recording those spontaneous moments in their lives beautifully. (An SLR is one of those big fancy cameras, that you can change the lenses on; for those that don't know what that term means). We can't be at your home 24/7, photographing you and your family, and many of those special moments happen without warning, first steps, dad falling asleep with the kids reading bedtime stories, etc. We will still be here to photograph your family photos, and edit them and print them professionally. Because let's face it, you still need photos with all of you together. The kids need photos with you in FRONT of the camera instead of behind it! ;) This workshop is for those moments between photo sessions, those moments that are unplanned, but just as special! As many of you know, I began my journey down the road to becoming a Sacramento portrait photographer as nothing more than a mom with a camera, wanting to make my day to day photos of my kids look as beautiful and awesome as I could. I wanted those special moments to be recorded as they happen, in the spontaneous moments of life, just as beautifully as I remembered them. I taught myself through reading every book/manual/online forum I could get my hands on. It was a constant process of trial and error. I would look at magazines and books and try and figure out how those photos were achieved. I would try out what I thought would give my photo that look, use a whole roll of film and wait for it to come back from being developed and see if what I tried was successful. (remember the old days of waiting!?!?!) My passion in professional photography has always been to provide other's that same gift. Photos that convey that passion, moment, spontaneous laugh or tear as they happen. Photos that serve as a visual memory of our lives. And that is why we are going to be offering this workshop! We want to help all of our friends, and clients who want to capture life through photos, between their photo sessions. We are planning for the first workshop to be on a Saturday in January. If you are interested in more information about the workshop, please send us an email at the address below. We will have more information on the workshop rolling out in the next few weeks and want those of you interested, to be the firtst to know!! If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact us. You can email us at workshops@jenstewartphotography.com

It asll started October 1st, 2009, when my 10 year old niece Zoe recieved a copy of the Homeward Street JournalThe paper's mission is to alleviate miscommunication between the homeless and non-homeless communities by educating the public about housing and poverty issues, and by giving homeless people a voice in the public forum. Zoe read the newspaper from cover to cover, and wanted to do whatever she could to help the homless in our area. She began saving her allowance, making friendship braclets and selling them to kids in her neighborhood, and collecting recycling, with all the proceeds going into a jar that she plans on giving to the Sacramento Homeless Shelter "Loaves & Fishes".
Zoes passion has spread to those around her. A neighborhood friend of hers, Ashley, is also collecting recycling from her friends, family, at her church and school. My boys have also jumped on board to help Zoe. They have brought a box to school and classmates have brought in bags of recycling from home to the school for this project. The boys have asked neighbors to donate their recycling as well.
It has become quite the passion for all the kids to collect as much as they can and watch the fund grow. Last weekend we took them to turn in their recycling so they could see how much they've collected so far. With the earnings that Zoe has already saved and collected the kids, in a little over a month have managed to save $42.75!! Zoe wants to wait till they have a bit more before taking it down to Loaves & Fishes and donating it. All of us parents are SO proud of our kids, and so see their generous loving spirits, who want to help take care of those in need!! I know many of our blog readers are local, if you would like to help the kids in any way, such as by donating your collected recycling, please let us know, they are energized to see just how many people are interested in helping them, with their mission to help others!
