We absolutely LOVE hearing from those who stop by, so please feel free to leave us a comment and say hi! :) Right above this post you will see Chris & Jen's "Twitters" Twitter's website describes itself as a service for friends, family and co-workers to communicate and stay connected through the exchange of quick, frequent answers to one simple question: What are you doing? And frequent they are! We update our twitters several times a day, and have found it a GREAT way to share the fun, interesting, and sometimes crazy things that happen throughout the day that aren't big enough for a blog post of their own. There are often times links in our twitters that will share a quick photo we snapped on our phone of what's going on as well. You can scroll through our recent twitters by clicking the "read more" button below each twitter, OR you can follow us directly by heading over to the twitter website and signing up for your own free account! Chris and I have been working and planning for an exciting workshop!! It's a workshop for YOU! This is not for professional photographers, but for moms & dads and those that love to capture life as it happens. Those that want to know how to control their cameras so that their photos look like what they had envisioned in their head, when they clicked the shutter! Over the last several months we have had more and more people calling, emailing, facebooking, and twittering us with questions about their new cameras. These questions have come from Moms & Dads who bought a Digital SLR, in the hopes of recording those spontaneous moments in their lives beautifully. (An SLR is one of those big fancy cameras, that you can change the lenses on; for those that don't know what that term means). We can't be at your home 24/7, photographing you and your family, and many of those special moments happen without warning, first steps, dad falling asleep with the kids reading bedtime stories, etc. We will still be here to photograph your family photos, and edit them and print them professionally. Because let's face it, you still need photos with all of you together. The kids need photos with you in FRONT of the camera instead of behind it! ;) This workshop is for those moments between photo sessions, those moments that are unplanned, but just as special! As many of you know, I began my journey down the road to becoming a Sacramento portrait photographer as nothing more than a mom with a camera, wanting to make my day to day photos of my kids look as beautiful and awesome as I could. I wanted those special moments to be recorded as they happen, in the spontaneous moments of life, just as beautifully as I remembered them. I taught myself through reading every book/manual/online forum I could get my hands on. It was a constant process of trial and error. I would look at magazines and books and try and figure out how those photos were achieved. I would try out what I thought would give my photo that look, use a whole roll of film and wait for it to come back from being developed and see if what I tried was successful. (remember the old days of waiting!?!?!) My passion in professional photography has always been to provide other's that same gift. Photos that convey that passion, moment, spontaneous laugh or tear as they happen. Photos that serve as a visual memory of our lives. And that is why we are going to be offering this workshop! We want to help all of our friends, and clients who want to capture life through photos, between their photo sessions. We are planning for the first workshop to be on a Saturday in January. If you are interested in more information about the workshop, please send us an email at the address below. We will have more information on the workshop rolling out in the next few weeks and want those of you interested, to be the firtst to know!! If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact us. You can email us at workshops@jenstewartphotography.com

We have some BIG news to announce!!!! If you have been following Jen's or Chris' Twitter accounts or either of us on Facebook, you've seen we've been preparing for some BIG changes for Jen Stewart Photography, and the Stewart family! If you haven't seen or heard about this...... let me fill you in. As many of you know, Chris has been retaining his day job as we've been building up Jen Stewart Photography. Thanks to all of our wonderful clients, many who have become dear friends over the last several years, the photography has turned into a full time job for both of us. It has become more and more clear that we needed to make a change with Chris' schedule. He was working essentially 2 full time jobs, and it's begun to wear on him. It has been our dream for some time now, to have Chris quit the day job and be able to focus his attention on our business. We had hoped, and set a goal to begin moving in that direction within the next year. Little did we know that God had his own plans for us! We received notice about a month and a half ago, from his day job that they were offering voluntary buyouts to all senior clerks. After much prayer, and many late nights crunching numbers, we decided that this was our golden opportunity to see our dreams come true!! We have been working hard these last several weeks to prepare for the transition, setting up a budget & setting up insurance (no fun) and figuring out how to use this opportunity to launch our business into the next stratosphere (super fun!!). As of July 24th we will officially both be SELF-EMPLOYED and FULL TIME PHOTOGRAPHERS!!!! That is exactly one month from today, OOOHHHH YEAH!!!! Party at the Stewart's baby!!!! We are both SO excited about what the future has in store for us, and our business!!! And we realize that NONE of this would be possible without all of our amazing clients!!! So as a thank you for your support we would like to extend a thank you to you! If you book a portrait session between now and July 24th, you can book at the discounted session fee of $175!!!!
Now your session date doesn't have to fall between those dates, you just need to BOOK within those dates to get this special price. So seniors, think about your Senior Portraits, or families, think ahead for your Christmas card photos!!! If you've been meaning to call and schedule a session.... now is the time! :) What are you waiting for... contact us today! And.... well since it would just be weird to post without a photo. Here is one of us having fun in the photo booth at Dustin & Jen's wedding back in April. Thanks ProFinish Design for the photobooth photo!!!

Last Thursday I spent the morning with Kapri and her family. You may remember her Mommy & Daddy from their maternity session back in January. I am so excited that they selected one of our baby's first year packages. I always get so attached to the families I photograph, and am SO looking forward to this next year with Kapri, and being able to document all her milestones and growth! (plus I get the added bonus of hanging out with her wonderful parents and snuggling her throughout the year!) ;) Can I just say that I think I'm in love with Kapri? Isn't she just the cutest little thing? And only 5 days old, and so perfect! She slept through most of our session. Put up with us fussing with her, moving her, and everything without a peep! (and let me tell you, it was a VERY eventful session, just ask Mom & Dad!) ;) Teeny, Tiny fingers & toes, this stage is so fleeting.........
See I told you she slept peacefully through the session, don't you just want to snuggle her???
Daddy is an avid hunter. I loved his idea of incorporating the ruggedness of his hunting, with her petite newborn innocence. He actually shot that bison in the background with a bow & arrow.... how cool is that!?!?
Daddy is also a talented musician and enjoys playing his guitar for Kapri
Do these photos not completely capture how each new parent spends most of their first days with their little one. Snuggles, kisses, and you just can't stop staring at your perfect little baby!
I've been trying to think outside the box lately and try a few new things with each of my sessions. I'm not sure what it is about this photo, but I love the abstractness of it!
That little mouth, and perfect petal lips.... I just want to snuggle her every time I see this photo! :)
And finally, this photo makes me smile, and laugh, because really, this is what every parent looks like over their new little one, taking photo every second! I LOVE it!!
Brad & Lauren, I had SUCH a wonderful time with you, thank you for welcoming me into your home. I so enjoyed visiting, and snuggling little Kapri, and documenting these first few days with your perfect little bundle. You two are amazing parents, and I can't wait to show the rest of the photos soon! :)
