Last week, Jen and I ventured out to the Grassvalley area to meet up with David & Robyn to shoot their Engagement session. The day was perfect.  A little cold but the autumn atmosphere was just right.  David is a firefighter up there, and Robyn is a nurse.  They both wanted to incorporate that a bit in their session, and David got the ok from his station to let us shoot there, as well as have one of the trucks pulled out to use in the shoot.  SWEET!!!!  David & Robyn, enjoy your teaser from your session.  Looking forward to showing you two the rest of the photos soon!!!

As the Holidays are here, and to be honest, it has come very very fast this year, I look back and think about everything that has happened in the last few years and it is astounding everything that has come and been placed in my life.  From working for the man for 16 years, to just 4 months ago being blessed and able to leave my day job to focus on a thriving business with my best friend, my loving wife, and the best mom to my kids ever.  It is so cool!!!!  Thinking about everything in our lives, from the ups and downs, from the good and bad, from the stressful to relaxing times, I am trully thankful for so much.  So much in fact I though that a post would be the best way to say thanks to not only my wife and family, but to all the people that we have met throughout the last 3 years that have made a huge impact in our lives. So get ready cause I have alot of thanks to spread around!!!  :)

I am thankful for Jen in my life and how amazing of a wife, friend, and mom she is.  They always say the one you meet and know he/or she is the one, they are here to balance you and thats EXACTLY what she does in my life.  She has trasnformed me to be a better husband, a better dad to my kids and helped to give me confidence in my work and myself.  Babe you ROCK!!!!

I am thankful for my kids.  They are so amazing and are so full of energy all the time.  The boys are getting so big and are growing up so fast.  They continue to blow me away of how smart they are, and how they are exceling in school and soccer., and my bella boo is so beautiful and full of eneergy as well.  I love you kids!!

I am thankful for all of these people we have met and have become great photog friends.  We LOVE these people!! Colin Michael, Dave and Kimi from OhanaPhoto, Ross hagen, Shaun Austin & Kevin Swan from KISS, Blair & Sean Van Bussell, John Griffin, Nathan & Amber Holritz, Manus Chau, Tana Huffman, Sofie & Paul from Amorphia Photography, and there are so many many more but if I listed them all I wouldn't have time to hang with the fam and eat!!!

Jen and I are thankful for the AMAZING clients that we have and continue to be blessed with!!!  You all rock!!!

And finally before I get of the Comp, I wanted to say I am so thankful for my family, and the extended family that I married into.  They trully make me feel at home all the time, everytime. I love you all!!!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE!!!!  Enjoy your day with your friends, and family today!!!!

Chris and I have been working and planning for an exciting workshop!! It's a workshop for YOU! This is not for professional photographers, but for moms & dads and those that love to capture life as it happens. Those that want to know how to control their cameras so that their photos look like what they had envisioned in their head, when they clicked the shutter!

Over the last several months we have had more and more people calling, emailing, facebooking, and twittering us with questions about their new cameras. These questions have come from Moms & Dads who bought a Digital SLR, in the hopes of recording those spontaneous moments in their lives beautifully. (An SLR is one of those big fancy cameras, that you can change the lenses on; for those that don't know what that term means).

We can't be at your home 24/7, photographing you and your family, and many of those special moments happen without warning, first steps, dad falling asleep with the kids reading bedtime stories, etc. We will still be here to photograph your family photos, and edit them and print them professionally. Because let's face it, you still need photos with all of you together.  The kids need photos with you in FRONT of the camera instead of behind it! ;) This workshop is for those moments between photo sessions, those moments that are unplanned, but just as special!

As many of you know, I began my journey down the road to becoming a Sacramento portrait photographer as nothing more than a mom with a camera, wanting to make my day to day photos of my kids look as beautiful and awesome as I could.

I wanted those special moments to be recorded as they happen, in the spontaneous moments of life, just as beautifully as I remembered them.  I taught myself through reading every book/manual/online forum I could get my hands on. It was a constant process of trial and error.  I would look at magazines and books and try and figure out how those photos were achieved.  I would try out what I thought would give my photo that look, use a whole roll of film and wait for it to come back from being developed and see if what I tried was successful.  (remember the old days of waiting!?!?!)

My passion in professional photography has always been to provide other's that same gift.  Photos that convey that passion, moment, spontaneous laugh or tear as they happen.  Photos that serve as a visual memory of our lives.

And that is why we are going to be offering this workshop!  We want to help all of our friends, and clients who want to capture life through photos, between their photo sessions.

We are planning for the first workshop to be on a Saturday in January.  If you are interested in more information about the workshop, please send us an email at the address below.  We will have more information on the workshop rolling out in the next few weeks and want those of you interested, to be the firtst to know!!

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact us.  You can email us at workshops@jenstewartphotography.com

Introducing the ultra cool couple, Mike & Aurlie!!!!!  Now everyone these two had alot of fun with this session and it shows in their photos.  From beginning to end they truly ROCKED IT!!!!  From the hills of Newcastle, to the old town of Newcastle, these too didn't stop for the camera.  WE LIKEY THAT!!!!  In fact we liked it so much, that we were like little kids when we got home from their session, and couldn't wait to upload their photos and begin.  It was kinda like "Oh my gosh" then I said " I know" then Jen said "Seriously" then I said in the words of Rachel Zoe, "I.DIE."

Enough maddness and sillyness.  Mike & Aurlie, we hope you enjoy your teaser and can't wait to show the rest to you two.

 I.DIE.  :)

Wow, what can I say about Gina, so many wonderful things come to mind, beautiful, fun, full of life, joyful, an absolute JOY to be around.... I could go on and on!!  I had such a great time last week with Gina down in Midtown for her senior portrait session!  This girl can WORK IT in front of the camera, I'm telling you people, I was in HEAVEN photographing her! :)  Gina, thank you for such an awesome afternoon, enjoy your photo teaser, the rest of the photos are coming soon! :)

Because Gina is in face a HOT ITALIAN! :)

I could have spend hours at these colorful poles, they were so fun, and moving only an inch or two and you get a whole different look and colors.  And well Gina, was WORKIN' IT! :)

Like I said.... GORGEOUS!!!!

And then the light got PERFECT, I think these are some of my favorites from the whole session!!
